youbloom.

Bringing fans, artists, and hosts together to create an intimate and curated musical experience.

UX Design Intern

I was on a team with one other UX intern reporting to the stakeholders. My responsibility was to boost artist requests, ticket sales, and artist sign ups.

Duration: August 2021 - February 2022

Make existing features user-friendly.

I changed the user request button and form to simplify the flow and speed up the time to complete actions

Create new pages.

I worked on the personas, competitive audit, and created an artist page from both artist and fan perspective.

Personas

I created four different personas of bands who would use youbloom

Insights.

Artists want requests! Fans need an easy way to request an artist.

Artists need a way to be discovered and gain new fans.

Artists want a sense of community and a way to connect with other artists and fans.

Get Artists Requests

Artist Request Button

Original Button

User testing showed that users had a hard time finding the button due to the lack of contrast.

New Button

I reconfigured it by making it high contrast and surrounded by negative space. I also added the artist search so that users could know who they are requesting. This created a clear call to action.

Artist Request Form

Before

Users had to login or become a member before requesting. They then had to fill out a long form with a lot of information every time they requested.

After

I took out all of the unnecessary information, split the form into two screens, and provided a stepper.

Users have less information overload and know exactly how far they are into the process as opposed to endlessly scrolling and filling out.

Users now can complete the pop-up screens in under 15 seconds and with less than three clicks

Reach out to New Artists

Reaching out to an artist not in the database is on it’s own form, instead of being lumped into the request form.

Creating an Artist Page

Here a user can learn more about youbloom artists. This is also a completely new feature.

I put a banner about the next upcoming show in the hero image because buying tickets is the action I want the user to take.

The videos allow users to hear the music right on the website and request or buy a ticket without having to navigate back to from another site.

Carousel

Since there was not a way to find artists on the website previously, I decided to introduce this with a simple carousel.

At first I had social media links on the carousel cards, but decided to remove them to encourage users to go to the artist’s page within the website

This carousel is on almost every page of the website

Foster a Community

A Sense of Community

The interactive FAQ (boxes flip when hovered over) engages the user with the website.

Making the Artist Match feature prominent on the sign up page showcases the fact that artists who sign up will be matched with other participating artists and be given a guide to marketing each other on their social media pages.

The blog offers community members advice on how to engage with their fans and many other topics.
